Great in the home and can be left
Benji is doing so well in foster. He has picked up lots of basic commands, you have his full attention if you have treats making him easy to train. He currently lives with a 14yr old staffie female who he is excellent with and has two younger SBT friends. His foster sister literally walks all over him but he loves her and will often cuddle up with her. He does still has the odd grumble at some dogs (not all) however seems to be if the dogs carry on with their own business it doesn't bother him. He loves his walks, can see how happy to makes him , he also loves a sofa snooze after. He is no problem in the home, he can be left, non destructive and is clean. Benji needs someone to give him a chance and work on his grumbles round some dogs, for this we are looking for someone with bullbreed experience to bring him on.
Benji has just arrived and gone into a foster home yesterday with a female SBT. So far he has been a wee star, he knows basic commands, is crate trained, he’s clean in the house and loves his foster sister.
He’s great in the house, was left in a crate in my living room overnight and I didn’t hear a thing from him all night. And is perfectly happy to chill out somewhere comfy while nothing exciting is going on. Had to leave him alone for a couple of hours this morning. Again, didn’t hear a squeak from his crate when I left or returned.
While out he is ok walking on his lead and harness but will need a little more training with this. All he wants to do is walk, sniff, mark, repeat.
He seems very selective with other dogs. Although fairly uninterested in most, has had a grumble at a few while out. I would say he would be best suited as an only dog or with a nice mellow female friend. I’m hoping this is an ‘entire male’ thing and will be a lot better after he gets neutered on Tuesday. I’ll keep you updated. Just took him out with his muzzle and a lot of treats and went to the nice big open park nearby with the hope we could walk past some dogs and get lots of treats.
Benji Boy has been with me a week already!
He’s such a good boy. So full of character but well behaved. He knows basic commands, he’s a smart chap and I’m sure he would learn anything else quickly. He is happy chilling out somewhere comfy but equally would love to use up some of his energy on a long walk. He is happy being left alone and is happy in a crate. He met my sisters 3-year-old this morning. Benji was very gentle and was happily petted by him.
His heart really is as big as his giant head.
I struggle to find fault with him. I’m not sure he understands what personal space is, typical staffie would quite like to be touching/on top of you at all times. He could do with some further training while walking on his lead. Occasionally he will grumble at strange dogs, mainly other boys, but I’ve learned he gets over it very quickly once he’s had a sniff.
