Running4Staffies One of our amazing supporters,Craig McCabe, is aiming to run 5 half marathons this year to raise funds for Staffie Smiles in memory of his staffie 'Brasco' who he lost in 2014 after 16 years. In 2015 he ran an amazing 9 half marathons and one full marathon and raised £1200 for Staffie Smiles. To find out more and to sponsor Craig follow this link to his fundraising page
In memory of my own Staffy 'Brasco' whom I lost in 2014 after 16 years, I will be running to raise funds for Staffie Smiles Rescue. Over the course of last year I ran 9 half marathons and one full one and managed to raise £1200. This year, due to other commitments I can only manage to enter 5 half marathons. These are spaced out over several months and the last one I have planned (Glen Clova) is in November, the entry for this does not open until August and fills up within the hour, if I am unsuccessful I will enter another one at short notice to keep the total at 5. Thanks to every person who donated last year, it was a massive effort and it meant a lot to me, all at the rescue and of course all of the Staffies that were stuck in kennels waiting for their forever home. x Craig
What do motorbikes - staffie and a few very kind caring people have in common! quite a lot in this rescue.
April 2016 Take two donated motorbikes and a few very kind, caring people with a determination and drive to help staffies in need.
The people that made this project work Gregor Black and his wife Jackie Black of the Ogri MCC (donated a bike) Charlie and Jill Stewart from Dundee (donated a bike) Al of bikers1.com (restored the bikes) The Bikes Donated
A BMW 1150, with ABS issues which were uneconomical to repair, was donated by Gregor Black of the Ogri MCC (Gregor’s wife Jackie Black is a volunteer with SSR)
A Lifan 125 was donated by Charlie and Jill Stewart from Dundee (Charlie and Jill adopted Pepsi from SSR)
Both of these donated bikes needed quite a lot of work done to them before they could be put up for sale to raise much-needed funds to help save the dogs.
The man who was going to turn this project around was Al of bikers1.com - He donated 30 hours of his own time in labour to recommission the BMW and Lifan, he also got both bikes M.O.T.d and then put them up for sale.
The sales of both bikes, less the cost of parts and M.O.T.s, raised a MASSIVE £2,250 for this rescue.
All the people involved in this project are huge dog lovers and have staffie as you can see from the photos.
You are all staffie angels, words cannot explain how grateful we at SSR deeply appreciate your generosity. Most of the dogs saved in the first few months of 2016 are alive today because of you. We can't thank you enough for your help and support xxx
