Thinking about fostering?

Foster carers are the lifeline for our dogs, and the more fosterers we have, the more dogs we can save. Providing foster care for a staffie will certainly be a rewarding experience, but will also be an emotionally challenging.

We require fosterers who are kind and will be patient with the dog and let them decompress, whilst following our advice. Most of our dogs come from the pound and will be scared/anxious.

We pay for anything the dog requires such as vet bills, behaviourist support, medication ect.

Sending a successful foster to their forever home is bittersweet, you are saying goodbye to a friend, which hurts, but are also sending them on to a new life, a place where they will be cherished,  loved and safe until they leave for rainbow bridge.
A furever home, what every dog dreams of.

Please see some photos off dogs in their foster homes recently, you can see how happy and relaxed they are!
Important information to consider before applying:
  • We only require foster homes in SCOTLAND.
  • We are sorry but we are not able to place any foster dogs in homes that have children under the age of 12 years old.
  • We require pet free homes.
  • Somebody at home a lot to begin with.
  • We can't put a time line on how long a foster will be with you.

Dogs who come from the pound are assessed by the pound then ourselves, please remember the kennel environment is very different from a home environment and we can't guarantee their behaviour will be the same within a household.

We are a very small rescue, run by volunteers and we are unable to reach out to every application. If you do not hear from us within 12 weeks, please assume you have been unsuccessful.

Fostering responsibilities

Aside from regular day-to-day care (feeding, grooming and exercise), the responsibilities of a foster home may include:

  • Basic training (house training, walking on a leash, sit, down, stay)
  • Behaviour modification (to correct problems with help from us with things such as jumping, mouthing, barking, destructive chewing and dashing)
  •  Socialisation and temperament evaluation (to determine whether the dog is good with people, dogs, cats, other animals)
  • Showing the dog how to play, some of our dogs don't know what toys are used for.
  • Patience, patience, patience. Your foster is coming into a new environment; they may be anxious or excited. Accidents may happen. Please be patient with your foster.
  • Medical care (taking the dog to vet appointments)
  • Plenty of playtime and snuggling!
Join our foster’s FB page,  posting updates and photos of your new foster dog and getting support and help when needed, also helping to support other foster families in the same position as you with a new dog.
