About Mia: Due to no fault of her own Mia has been returned to us.
Mia is a low energy, super-smart Staffie. She’s young, fit and strong.
In the house she’s happy to doze in her bed until it’s time for her walks and will snuggle up on the sofa in the evening to watch TV with you – she loves cuddles. She sleeps on her own bed downstairs.
She’s perfectly house-trained, no overnight problems and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She can be left for an afternoon without separation anxiety or being destructive – just chills out till you come back.
Mia’s main motivation is food – anything anywhere – which has been very positive for training. She’s also super-smart and learns fast. She smashed a Man-trailing day and is also very promising at agility using food treats as incentives. She also enjoys and is good at dog puzzles for mental stimulation.
She loves the car as it means she’s going out somewhere for a walk. She’s been having approximately 2 hrs per day either 1 long walk or 2 shorter ones.
She walks well on a slip-lead but can lunge and pull if there’s something she wants to investigate. Off lead she doesn’t wander and will find you if you hide or are not in view.
Her recall is very good to ‘Here, look at me’, and especially to the whistle. Suggest ongoing reinforcement of this with reward treats.
She loves people and likes ‘her people’ to be together on a walk and will come to find you if you need to answer a call of nature in a bush! While she’s been with me she’s had experience only with adults so children are an ‘unknown’. She sometimes jumps up on greeting so this would be a consideration as she’s a strong dog.
There are no problems with ‘guarding’ in my experience, either with food or toys although with toys she doesn’t like to give up easily – she’s a Staffie and likes to tug/play.
She’s not aggressive and is fine with other calm dogs but can be unpredictable with high energy dogs.
Mia loves to be with you and is a wonderful companion.
