More about me
Please read the dog's profile before applying. Only applications that meet the dog's needs will be considered. All our dogs will be Neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
History - We were made aware of King being in a council pound. He looked so sad and had the sorest eyes we had ever seen, so we made the decision to help him. King had really sore eyes - he had double entropion which needed surgery. King had this surgery back in 2023 and has recovered really well, King will need no further surgeries.
King is the most goofiest and friendliest dog, he loves his humans! King loves his walks but is happiest when snuggled up on the couch, he would benefit from a home with a garden so he can potter about. As his eyesight has improved massively, King needs an owner who will be patient with him and give him confidence in the outside world. King is a brilliant dog and so loved, any family would be lucky to have this handsome boy.
Update Jan 2025
King has recently attended a residential for a few weeks to work on his reactivity with dogs, he done so well! we have added some photos of him working alongside other dogs. We are super proud of him! he exceed all expectations, there is still work to be done and King will now attend weekly workshops with other dogs to keep building on his training and confidence. King was easily corrected around dogs, a few grumbles but was manageable and very food motivated which helps! it was also commented on how much of a lazy boy he is. Full behavioural support will be provided for King in a foster/forever home.
Update June 2024
King had a long weekend with one of our fosterers.
This boy will make THE BEST dog, he just wants someone to love who will love him back. He is so full of fun, and really lived up to his goofball reputation! He does have some learning to do as has sadly missed out on so much in his life so far, but picks things up so quickly and wants nothing more than to please, loved being told he's a good boy. His tail almost never stopped wagging, adored his time at the secure field, having great runs around and lots and lots of sniffs, home for a little bit of play (tug toys and squeaky pig favourites) and then time to relax on the couch. Got in and out of the car no problem, was very good at waiting politely until lead on and unattached before jumping out, and just relaxed on the journeys taking in the world. Very food motivated, would take his dinner as treats, and be very happy when an occasional bit of sausage or his favourite beef and cheese minis appeared, and we discovered a fondness for cherry tomatoes (but only when I'd bitten in to them first!). I can only imagine how much he will shine when he finally gets to settle in properly with his forever family, King so truly deserves this, and anyone who gives him this chance will be incredibly lucky and have a life full of laughter and love.
Update January 2024
King has been getting a break at Kennels and staying with one of our volunteers.
King is the perfect house guest, he was clean in the house and made us aware when he needed the toilet by going to the back door, King knows basic commands and takes direction well. King even let me give him a bath with no issues at all, I was able to wash him all over and he loved getting dried with a big towel. King also loved the car, to start with we had to lift him in and out of the car but by the end of the weekend he was jumping in and out himself, he loved watched the world go by and then going for a sleep after a walk.
Although King loved his walks and walks well on his lead, he loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch with you. He makes a fab snuggling companion and showered us with kisses and cuddles, he is so affectionate and also loves a good belly rub. King was able to self settle himself in the house and happily took himself to bed to eat his chew. In Kennel's King doesn't engage with toys, but in the house he loved nothing more than playing with his ball and enjoyed us chasing him about the house, we were also able to take the toys from King.

What is entropion?
Entropion is a condition that causes the eyelids to roll inwards and rub the front of the eye. It tends to affect both eyes, and although it’s more common in the lower eyelids, can affect both upper and lower lids. Left untreated, entropion can cause severe pain, inflammation, eye ulcers, infections, scarring, and even loss of an eye.
It has taken a long time for King's eyes to be fixed with surgery, king is now pain-free and loving life - he will never suffer with this again all he needs now is his own family x
